Practical guidance for staying safe on UpRelay: Aura

Your Safety Matters

At Aura, your safety is a priority. This page provides practical guidance to help you use Aura safely and confidently. If you ever feel unsafe, trust your instincts and take action.

Reporting a Profile or Message

If you encounter a profile or message that concerns you, please report it. Reports help us maintain a safe community for everyone.

You can also report concerns directly by emailing [email protected]. When reporting, please include as much detail as possible, including the profile or content involved and a description of the concern.

Support requests are reviewed during business days. Safety-related reports are prioritized.

Blocking a User

If another user makes you uncomfortable, you can block them. Blocking prevents the other user from contacting you or viewing your profile.

Recognizing and Avoiding Scams

Be cautious of users who:

  • Ask for money, gifts, or financial support
  • Claim to be in an urgent situation requiring financial help
  • Want to move conversation off Aura very quickly
  • Share inconsistent or improbable stories
  • Refuse to video call or meet in a safe public setting

If you suspect a scam, stop communication and report the profile.

Recognizing and Avoiding Impersonation

Watch for signs that someone may not be who they claim:

  • Photos that appear to be stock images or taken from other sources
  • Reluctance to share additional photos or video call
  • Stories that change or don’t add up
  • Pressure to move quickly in the relationship

Handling Harassment

No one should tolerate harassment. If you receive unwanted, aggressive, or threatening messages:

  • Do not engage further with the person
  • Block the user
  • Report the behavior to Aura
  • If you feel you are in danger, contact local emergency services

Handling Unwanted Sexual Content

Aura prohibits unsolicited sexual content. If you receive unwanted explicit images or messages, report them immediately. Do not feel pressured to respond or reciprocate.

Safe In-Person Meetings

If you decide to meet someone from Aura in person:

  • Meet in a public place for the first few meetings
  • Tell a friend or family member where you’re going and who you’re meeting
  • Arrange your own transportation to and from the meeting
  • Stay sober and alert
  • Trust your instincts — if something feels wrong, leave
  • Do not share your home address until you feel safe doing so

Location Safety

Do not share your precise home or work location with someone you have not met in person. Aura’s nearby features are designed to be privacy-preserving and mutual-only, but your personal safety also depends on the information you choose to share in conversations.

Immediate Danger and Emergency Services

If you are in immediate physical danger, contact local emergency services immediately.

  • Emergency (many countries): 112
  • Emergency (United States): 911
  • Emergency (Indonesia / Bali): 112 or 110 (police)

Aura cannot provide emergency assistance. In situations involving imminent physical danger, always contact local emergency services first.
